(Beijing, May 18, Xinhua News Agency) From January to April of this year, China's installed capacity of renewable energy has shown rapid expansion, reflecting the nation's steady progress toward its "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" goals and the ongoing energy transition.
According to data from the National Energy Administration:
During the same period, the country's total installed power generation capacity stood at about 2.41 billion kilowatts, rising 7.9% year‑on‑year.
Dual‑carbon goals drive energy transformation:
China has pledged to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. The development of renewable energy and the optimisation of the energy mix are key pathways to realising this ambitious blueprint.
As outlined in the "Action Plan for Carbon Dioxide Peaking Before 2030" released last year, China aims to raise the share of non‑fossil energy consumption to around 25% by 2030. The strong growth in renewable energy capacity seen in the first four months of this year marks an important step toward that target.
