Solar First’s Lingao Floating PV Project Wins Media Praise

The floating photovoltaic project in Bohou Town, Lingao County, Hainan Province, undertaken by Xiamen Solar First Energy Technology Co., Ltd., has successfully achieved full grid connection and power generation, earning significant recognition from local government and media. This is Lingao County’s first PV station built on an abandoned mine pond, marking another innovative step for Xiamen Solar First in green energy.

Revitalizing Abandoned Mines

Located on a disused mining pond, the project spans 114.4 mu (7.6 hectares) with a total installed capacity of 5.8 MW. Over 10,000 solar panels float like “blue armor” on the water, creating an eco‑synergistic model of “power generation on water + underwater restoration.”

▪ Annual output: 9.66 million kWh

▪ Annual coal saving: ≈2,946.4 tons

▪ Significant reduction in CO₂ and SO₂ emissions – truly turning waste into treasure.

Overcoming Technical Challenges

Floating solar requires buoyancy, stability, and tracking capability. Solar First succeeded with its independently developed HDPE buoyancy system – lightweight, durable, and eliminating heavy machinery. Through floating connection and anchoring technology, the PV array remains safe and stable even under typhoons and heavy rainfall.

Empowered by Technology

As a national high‑tech enterprise, Xiamen Solar First Energy Technology Co., Ltd. follows the “New Energy, New World” philosophy, focusing on solar PV, floating systems, and smart energy solutions. The company holds 6 invention patents, over 60 utility model patents, and numerous international certifications, serving over 100 countries worldwide.

Strategic Significance

The Lingao project demonstrates Solar First’s commitment to “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.” The company will continue advancing “PV + Restoration” and “PV + Rural Revitalization” projects, contributing to global energy transformation and sustainable development.
